Ukraine vs Georgia

Our prediction for this Nations League match:

Ukraine will look to make amends for back-to-back losses to Albania and Czech Republic when they face Georgia in the UEFA Nations League round 3. The Ukrainians are stuck at the bottom of the table with zero points on their account and, no doubt, they are desperate to grab something from Friday’s clash. Bear in mind, though, that the game will be played on a neutral location in Poznan (Poland). Arsenal left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko is sidelined with injury, but AS Roma forward Artem Dovbyk and Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk both made the cut.

The Georgians, on the other hand, aim to keep their 100% record in Group 1 intact and given their attacking potential with Georges Mikautadze and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia up front, we believe that there is a big value in betting on both teams to score. Both Kiteishvili and Chakvetadze are one yellow card away from suspension.

How the bookies view it: Hosts favoured to bank maximum points

Ukraine the match favourites, are running at a quote of 6/5 to pick up the win with Bingoplus. They will need to shake off a run of poor form to achieve that, but they are on a four-match unbeaten streak against Georgia. Georgia, who are looking to maintain their 100% start to the campaign, are 23/10 underdogs in the match.

Ukraine vs Georgia Prediction

The opening games of this Nations League season saw Ukraine conceding back-to-back defeats. Their poor defensive line is one of the major reason for their defeats as they leaked 5 goals in the first two games.

The team will hope to change the negative run and on Thursday, they will play host to Georgia, who started off this season with an impressive 4-1 win against Czech Republic and a 1-0 victory over Albania. Georgia was also considered as underdogs but the bookies underestimated the team which has some impressive in-form players like Kvarastskhelia and Mikautadze in the front.

Moving on, Ukraine can rely on the head-to-head tradition since they follows a six-match unbeaten streak against Georgia. Five of the total six meeting between the two had goals from both teams. By the looks of things, we expect a highly competitive clash between these two teams.

Apart from all the upper hands, we have a major stat to point for Georgia as they won two of the last four road trips. The match they lost in that period was against Spain and Turkey. However, they have failed to prevent opposition from scoring in three of those four away matches.

Meanwhile, Ukraine follows an average home form and has managed to record 13 unbeaten games in the last 14. It is worth noting that they conceded eight draws in those 14 games. The overall upper hand of Georgia inclines us to go for the away win or draw here. Quite a risky take but the stats back it so we like to put it forward.

But the chances of a highly competitive match still remains as they both have consistently been in form on the final third. In that case, we like to suggest the over 2.5 goals and both teams to score tip.

Highlighted Player (Viktor Tsygankov):

Viktor Tsygankov is a Ukrainian footballer who plays for Dynamo Kiev. Tsygankov is a product of Nyva Vinnytsia football school, but in 2011 he moved to Dynamo Kiev at the age of 14. Despite being born in Nahariya, Israel on November 15, 1997, Viktor Tsygankov represents Ukraine at senior level.

The talented winger has no less than 20 caps for Ukraine U17 team and it has to be noted that his made his senior debut for Ukraine against Finland in November, 2016. Tsygankov came as a substitute in the 83rd minute of the 2018 World Cup qualifier. Viktor Tsygankov’s main position is right winger, but he is used as a left winger as well.

His preferred foot is left and he has a contract with Dynamo Kiev until June, 2023. The pacey winger made his Dynamo Kiev debut in the Ukrainian Premier League on August 14, 2016 against FC Stal Kamianske. His first coach was Mykola Zahoruyko.

Recent head-to-head: Ukraine to defend unbeaten run against Georgia

Ukraine have taken a W2 D2 record in their last four meetings with Georgia, and the trend from those four matches is that both teams scored in each. This will be the first meeting since a 2015 friendly, in which Ukraine took a 2-1 win WJPESO. Overall, from nine previous meetings, Ukraine have remained unbeaten, winning two thirds of those.

Highlighted Team (Georgia):

Georgia are yet another former Soviet republic who have been competing as an independent country since 1990. The Georgians had their international debut on May 27, 1990, with the team sharing the spoils with Lithuania in Tbilisi.

Georgia have been struggling in the qualifiers for both FIFA World Cup and the European Championship ever since they played their first qualifying game and they have yet to book their place at the finals of the major tournaments. The Georgian national football team recorded their biggest win on March 30, 1997, with the team hammering Armenia in front of home fans, but they were demolished by Denmark (1-6) eight years later and that is considered the team’s biggest loss.

The Likes of Kakha Kaladze and Shota Arveladze are considered Georgia’s most famous players. Kakha Kaladze played for Georgia from 1996 to 2011, scoring one goal in 83 appearances for the national team. The left-footed defender won two Champions League titles with Serie A giants AC Milan (2003, 2007).

Players to watch: Kvaratskhelia a constant threat for Georgia

Exciting young forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is Georgia’s big star and can be a handful for any defence. The Napoli star averages just under a goal every other game for his country, and will likely be at the heart of everything good from Georgia on the counter-attack.

For Ukraine, their pace is going to come from Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk who arguably isn’t the greatest finisher, and worth avoiding in the goalscorer markets with just 2 in 24 appearances for his country. But he is one of the main sources of assists for Ukraine, opening the door to a Mudryk 1+ Assist betting tip.

Predicted Lineups

Neither team has any notable absentees from their squads, so this should be a good, even contest between the two nations.
